The CGPJ approves the readmittance of De Alfonso as a magistrate of the Barcelona High Court
  • CA

The Permanent Commission of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ, in Catalan) on Thursday gave the green light for Daniel de Alfonso to once again take up his post as a magistrate of the Seventh Section of the Barcelona High Court.

De Alfonso applied for readmittance to the judiciary after the Catalan parliament dismissed him as the director of the Catalan Antifraud Office, in response to the scandal of the recorded conversations with the acting interior minister, Jorge Fernández Díaz, in which both men allegedly conspired to smear sovereignty politicians.

According to the CGPJ agreement, De Alfonso has 20 working days to take up his post in the Barcelona High Court, dating from his dismissal as the director of the Antifraud Office, with the limit ending on Friday July 22.
