The Catalan government “respects” Forcadell’s decision to meet Otegi
  • CA

The Catalan government “respects” the decision by the president of the Parlament, Carme Forcadell, and parliamentary groups to meet the leader of the Abertzale left and secretary general of Sortu, Arnaldo Otegi, on Wednesday in the Catalan chamber.

That is according to government spokeswoman, Neus Munté, who added that both the Catalan parliament and political parties can “invite, receive and talk to whomever they like.”

Munté expressed “maximum respect” for Forcadell’s meeting with Otegi. Finally, she said that the president of the Catalan government, Carles Puigdemont, had no plans to meet Otegi.

Otegi will be in Barcelona on Wednesday visiting the Catalan parliament, invited by the CUP party. The institution explained that Forcadell generally meets the main leaders of political parties who visit, and that the Basque leader is no exception.

Otegi will also have a meeting with the members of the Catalan parliament’s foreign commission, which PSC has already said it has no intention of attending.
