The Catalan government has no record of any petition by Rajoy to meet Puigdemont

The Catalan government has no record of any formal petition from the acting-Spanish prime minster, Mariano Rajoy, to meet the head of the Generalitat administration, Carles Puigdemont, according to the presidency minister and Catalan government spokeswoman, Neus Munté.

In the news conference following the meeting of the administration, the minister reiterated the “complete willingness” of the Catalan government to “talk, sit and debate with whoever wants to,” including the acting Spanish prime minister.??

Nevertheless, Munté added that such things need to be spoken about “in the right place”, and she criticised the fact that Rajoy only spoke about this hypothetical meeting with Puigdemont in the media.

??What’s more, the presidency minister insisted that if the potential meeting is to mean anything it will all depend “on Rajoy’s tone and attitude.”

Rajoy said on Tuesday morning, in an interview on Onda Cero, that he and Puigdemont will meet, although he added that he still does not know when. “It is good that we talk, in reasonable terms,” he pointed out, before stating that “we have a lot of issue pending.”
